Equipment List
Below you will see a list of the equipment that you will need to bring for a Remote Rivers Alaska trip. We will be happy to advise you on exactly what you need to purchase.
Camp CAMP ITEMS: These items will be packed in your Large Water Bag (provided) and will not be available during the day.

  • Compact sleeping bag (synthetic fill, rated to 20 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Closed-cell foam or self-inflating sleeping pad
  • 2 complete changes of clothing (no cotton fabrics-synthetics only)
  • Camp shoes (running shoes and lightweight hiking boots)
  • Collapsible umbrella
  • Personal hygiene items, including: medications, insect repellent, toothbrush, toothpaste, small towel, biodegradable soap, etc.
  • Small flashlight or headlamp

 

RIVER ITEMS: These items will be worn or placed in your Small Water Bag (provided) and will be accessible all day.

  • Swimsuit and/or shorts and T-shirt (synthetic)
  • Athletic sandals (Tevas, Chacos, etc.) and neoprene wet socks/shoes
  • Polypropylene pile or fleece top and bottoms
  • Rain gear (jacket and pants)
  • Brimmed hat
  • Sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) and lip balm
  • Sunglasses with strap
  • 1 quart water bottle
  • Whistle, compass, waterproof matches
  • Mosquito head-net
  • Polar fleece or wool knit hat
  • Gloves
  • Warm jacket (polar fleece)
  • Book, journal, pen, sketchpad, etc.

 

Jim Heafner OPTIONAL ITEMS:

  • Camera (35mm, Digital, and/or Camcorder) and 6-10 rolls of film in a waterproof container
  • Fishing gear (if fish are present)
  • Pocket knife
  • Binoculars (7-10 power) or spotting scope
